Meeting the “Inner Child” Archetype!

How often do we say, “Back when we were kids…”, meaning that when we were children everything was much more fun, more interesting and brighter than it is now.

Is that because life really was more interesting back then? It has to do with our own perception of the world around us. Sometimes it seems to us that, together with childhood, some very important part of us goes away for good, and all we have left are memories.

In fact, it is we ourselves who drift away over time from the part of our personality that showed itself so vividly in childhood. We are talking about the figure of the Inner Child, which forms the very foundation of our personality.

Contact with the figure of the Inner Child gives us:

— freedom of feeling and self-expression;

— a powerful charge of creative energy;

— a push for our creativity to grow;

— the courage to take risks in showing ourselves to the outside world;

— a special sense of the brightness and beauty of the world around us;

— the ability to enjoy life.

The Inner Child is our constant helper in understanding our own wishes and longings. It is the Inner Child who helps us remember what we have always wanted and where our heart lies.

When you hear the phrase “find your inner source”, it is precisely the Inner Child that is meant.

How our magical practicum on engaging with the figure of the Inner Child will run:

  • The theory part will explore the figure of the inner child, its facets, its functions and its meaning for an adult. We will look at Jung’s idea of the Divine Child archetype. We will examine the factors that make a person lose contact with their Inner Child figure, and the ways to restore that contact.
  • In the practical part, using projective techniques, we will be able to feel the figure of the Inner Child within ourselves, build a connection with the Archetype inside our own psychic reality, and engage with one of its brightest aspects — our unique (authentic) creative potential.

The practicum is run together with the “Teurung” Association of Depth Psychology.
