Classes on our “Practical Psychology” course are full of surprises and discoveries! Many people, our participants among them, are often afraid of living through and becoming aware of so-called “bad” emotions and states.
That is why emotions and states such as sadness, sorrow, apathy and others are called “bad”.
This means they are most likely suppressed and pushed out of awareness. As a result, a person may feel low, lose their desires, and feel anxious and lazy.
It is worth remembering that there is no “good” and “bad”, “right” or “wrong” in the world. In the psychic space nothing is “needed” or “unneeded”.
Everything that exists is already in its place and happening as it should.
That is, in the best possible way for this situation and this person. Even if it exists only inside your own reality. And even if it is happening to you right now and you are it, yet you really dislike it.
“Good” and “bad” are concepts the Ego works with.
Our psychology classes open up knowledge and shed light on interesting and sometimes surprising facts about how mature your own Ego is.
It is not so easy to change everything that took years to form and is well guarded by well-built psychological defences. Attitudes, patterns of behaviour, habits. It will certainly take time and effort.
So we do not recommend the “fix one thing, break another” approach.

Uniting opposites, becoming aware of them and including them in the whole structure of the personality is what opens the way into the flow of life and real events! It gives you the right to steer the course of events and to be the master of your own life.
Those of us who work in the so-called “helping” professions surely know that people almost always come to us with “bad” emotions and states. They come for different things.
They come hoping we will help them deal with negativity, life’s difficulties and problems in their relationships with others.
But many people also understand the very idea of “help” differently. So, for help to turn out to be help and not something else, I suggest starting by joining “good” and “bad” into what simply is, here and now. Looking at the situation from a higher vantage point, objectively and without bias.

How to do this is something we talk about and try out in our psychology classes.
From the very first day, participants learn to separate a situation into what is really happening and their own attitude to it.

Psychological work is first and foremost work with a person’s attitude to what is happening.
And so the more often we meet our inner reactions and our own attitude to events in class, the more they tell us.
The core skill that matters and is needed, and that many people lack today, is the skill of self-awareness and self-acceptance. Including acceptance of feelings and states such as sadness, anger, anxiety, sorrow and so on.

In class we work through together, step by step and layer by layer, what lies behind the various theoretical concepts we use so often in everyday life.
A sea of discoveries, insights and new ideas at every meeting is one of our hallmarks!

— Tell me, is it normal that by the end of the class I have more questions than I had at the start? — one of our participants asks me.

Of course it is normal! Only in a “living” space, where there is exchange, interest and a thirst for knowledge, can this happen. That is exactly why no two of our courses are alike!

Someone comes to a class and is amazed: how do the other participants know what things are like in their family?!

How do we know about their wishes and feelings?
On closer inspection it turns out that the same situation is typical, even archetypal, for a great many people.
Why?
Because it rests on a foundation of attitudes, beliefs and patterns that have not been tested or questioned for a very long time, and they come from the distant, distant past.

Perhaps psychology for yourself will interest you, and a single class will start a new way of seeing yourself and others, family matters and ways of relating.

“Harmony” is a very popular word today.

I invite you, too, to ask yourself: what does harmony in life mean to you, and how do you know you have it?

If you want to learn more, broaden your understanding and find out what is hiding behind the scenes of your psychic reality, join the “Practical Psychology” course.
Starting in September 2021.

See you in class!
Anna Shyman, course leader.
