“Against the dispersed, contingent, and multiple existences of actual women, mythical thought opposes the Eternal Feminine, unique and changeless. If the definition provided for this concept is contradicted by the behaviour of flesh-and-blood women, it is the latter who are wrong.
Instead of admitting that Femininity is an abstract category, women are declared unfeminine. The arguments of experience are powerless against the myth.”
So often we need some special demonstration of love that we fail to notice anything that does not fit that frame. Behind such selectiveness there is often a fantastic, idealised image, and living up to it is supposed to bring the happiness we long for.
For example, the happiness of holding the title of “Feminine Woman”, “Worthy Woman”, “Valuable Woman”.
A deep-rooted idea that some ideal role, habit or manner exists becomes an overvalued goal that must be achieved at any cost. Otherwise you may be left without love, without approval, without the acceptance of those around you. And that means without a sense of your own value, importance and significance in this vast world. Even if everyone around you keeps telling you of their love in all sorts of ways, you will not be able to notice it — and so you risk never gaining the ability to be happy.
Self-worth is a deep feeling, and it grows stronger the more you feel yourself “in your place” — in the flow of life.
To meet something in the outer world, you first need to create it in your inner space. Illusions are the most common kind of misconception: they give outer and inner events meaning, colour them emotionally, make us anxious and often push us into spontaneous but wrong decisions.
In the Tarot system, the mistress of illusions is the Moon card. Unlike the Sun, which shines by itself, the Moon shines only with reflected light. And so it can distort reality beyond recognition, passing off wishful thinking as fact and the other way round. Cool and detached, the Moon listens closely to what is happening in the outer world so as not to miss anything important. Sometimes it grows so tired of waiting that it would rather invent an explanation than stay in uncertainty for a while.

In the Tarot system, the Moon Arcanum also symbolises the psychological complexes that the hidden side of our psyche — the realm of the unconscious — so generously bestows on us.
Just as the Moon has a dark side that is never seen, the human psyche has a hidden realm that holds everything not yet ready to come out into the light of consciousness. What stays in the shadow stirs us up, troubles us with forebodings, gives rise to states of mind and influences a person’s choices and decisions.
Here, in the depths, live instincts, impulses, reactions to the environment and, of course, images, fantasies and illusions which, like a misty haze, hide from the light of consciousness whatever is still only forming and ripening.
Just as a flower first needs shelter in order to grow, and a fruit needs to stay in the mother’s womb in order to form, ripen for outer life and then be born,
so every event, desire, dream, plan or idea needs shelter and time to gain its full strength and the capacity to come true.
As we know, the lunar cycle consists of two important periods: the waxing Moon and the waning Moon. The Moon colours each day of the calendar with its energies, which bring different themes to the fore. As a personal planet and the fastest one, the Moon helps in creating and planning all kinds of life events. Think, for example, of lunar planting calendars or general recommendations for planning various activities.
In astrology the Moon symbolises the maternal, feminine nature, which shines with reflected light and is receptive to the needs of other people. It is the Archetype of the wife and the mother, and also the Archetype of the inner Wise Woman. The Moon heightens the psyche’s sensitivity to subtle, invisible phenomena, instinctive reactions and hidden influences. The feminine Archetype symbolised by the Moon is the Goddess Hecate.
Hecate (Ancient Greek Ἑκάτη) is an ancient Greek goddess of moonlight, the underworld, all things mysterious, magic and witchcraft. A granddaughter of the Titans.
All women are by nature a little bit sorceresses: they often “know” and can foresee how events will unfold. Men whose psyche is connected with the Moon archetype also have access to inner knowledge and are especially receptive and emotional.
Yet many people do not trust their forebodings and images of the future. Often this is because they cannot understand and explain the meaning of what they have seen — not only to others, but to themselves.
The best way to develop psychological sensitivity is to synchronise with lunar energies. Developing the imagination, working with images, learning the language of the subconscious, embodying the feminine roles the Moon symbolises, or meeting them in inner reality all open the way to realising the boldest ideas and to important changes in life!
With cosmic support on their side, a person discovers a different reality that leads them to a whole perception of the world. If you have a map, you will most likely travel in comfort and improve your chances of a successful end to any journey.
