An online initiation course on the Major Arcana of Tarot, inspired by Hajo Banzhaf’s concept of the Hero’s Journey. It is a seven-month transformative journey deep into your unconscious, where each Arcanum is a stage in the unfolding of your Self. Our course is 22 immersions and initiations, from the Magician to the Fool. For us each Major Arcanum is a living portal into the psyche, a stage in the soul’s evolution and a key to integrating your Self.

We don’t do dull memorising of card meanings. Each session is a deep dive into the energetic and psychological layer of one Arcanum through your own experience:
- The psychological layer: the archetype as seen by C. G. Jung and H. Banzhaf — how this energy shows up in your life, in your blocks, talents or crises.
- The energetic layer (the Mystery): a deep initiation and living through the card’s archetype with projective methods, symbol drama and active imagination.
- Practice: techniques for bringing this strength into real life, and in-depth Jungian spreads for exploring your unconscious.
- Your questions: live dialogue, a look at your insights, states and choices, and feedback from the facilitator.
How does your journey through the Major Arcana of Tarot unfold?
You will live through their energetic and psychological layer in your own experience, building your own “library of symbols” for each of the Major Arcana. Your path through the course looks like this:
Theory and mythology of the Arcanum ➔ Projective method / symbol drama ➔ Living the energy ➔ Giving it a form in your inner space ➔Bringing what you realised into real life.
At every meeting, using active imagination, metaphorical associations and projective techniques, you will use Tarot as a guide into your inner world. You will meet your archetypal figures, look into the Shadow and claim the strength that has so far lain asleep in the unconscious.
Who is this Hero’s Journey through the Major Arcana of Tarot for?
- Seekers and lovers of depth. You are drawn to Jungian analysis, the collective unconscious and myth, and want to live this knowledge in practice rather than just read books.
- Those who have outgrown “everyday Tarot”. Spreads on “loves me, loves me not” bore you. You want to see Tarot as a great navigation system for the evolution of the human spirit.
- People at a point of crisis or transition. If your old landmarks are lost, the Hero’s Journey becomes a map that helps you see at which stage you are stuck and where to go next.
- Psychologists, coaches and other helping practitioners. You will master a powerful projective tool and methods of working with the unconscious, to help clients at a meta level.
The course “Tarot Without Fortune-Telling. A Journey to the Self” is 22 stages of Initiation
The course is built as a gradual descent into the unconscious followed by a path back to renewed strength of spirit:
1. The impulse of consciousness. We begin the journey with the Magician, the archetype of will, manifestation and self-image. We make contact with our true “I” and with the Inner Child.
2. The laws of Mother and Father. We go through the initiations of the High Priestess, the Empress, the Emperor and the Hierophant. We look at the mother and father complexes and family scripts, learn to set firm boundaries and explore the foundation of our place in society.
3. Crossing the threshold, and choice. Through the Lovers and the Chariot we make our existential choice, integrate our inner Masculine and Feminine (Anima and Animus) and set in motion the Will to win.
4. Growing up, and the Inner Mentor. Through Justice and the Hermit we learn to see reality without cognitive distortions and illusions, reassess our past experience and become self-sufficient.
5. Descent into the Shadow. The deepest stage. Through the Wheel of Fortune, Strength, the Hanged Man, Death, Temperance and the Devil we descend into the dark underworld of the psyche. We meet our fears, dependencies and shadow aspects and transform them into conscious personal strength.
6. The collapse of illusions. We go through the crisis of the Tower to arrive at an understanding of our true calling in the Star, work through the hidden fears of the Moon and reach psychological birth and self-acceptance in the Sun.
7. Judgement and the crown of the journey. Through Judgement and the World we assemble the mandala of our new reality.
The final initiation: the Fool. We complete the journey with the great Arcanum of the Fool, a symbol of complete renewal, passionate drive, contact with the collective unconscious and the gaining of true inner freedom.
