Have you ever asked yourself what it means to you?
If we approach the question from the point of view of psychology, we can make assumptions based on temperament type. We talk in detail about temperaments and other interesting concepts in the foundation course “Practical Psychology”.
Take the choleric, for example. Where does their safety lie? One way to get it is to connect with their aggression, their anger, irritation, displeasure and sense of dissatisfaction. It itches from within like a transformer box and demands situations in the form of achievement, competition, overcoming obstacles and other victories.
But what if the choleric child was inconvenient? Too fast, too active, too hot-tempered? In that case their anger takes completely different, destructive forms and is more often turned against themselves.
Will a person filled with self-hatred feel safe? Hardly, you will say, and you will be right!
Or take the melancholic. For them safety is their inner space, where, sheltered from outer hardships, they can wait out and live through a threat. Live through different feelings, including the “bad” and “shameful” ones. And above all keep their sensitivity, without which they cannot read the signals of their surroundings.
Imagine a melancholic who is made to “tell mum everything” and “have no secrets”. Deprived of personal space not only outside but also inside. Someone whose “mum knows best” what is going on in their life. Someone who is “not allowed to feel the wrong feelings”.
Estranged from themselves, the melancholic stops trusting themselves and so often lives in anxiety and fear and cannot bear uncertainty. That important uncertainty from which the future is born.
And if uncertainty is frightening, the future most likely stays closed to such a person too. That is why melancholics more often live in the past, in stagnation, resentments, fantasies, depression and negative experiences.

Once, in childhood, everyone was gifted with wings, to be able to rise and see everything that happens as clearly as the palm of your hand. To feel in that moment loved, valuable, significant, spacious, protected and joined by invisible threads to the world around. In Jungian psychology these wings are called “authenticity”
Once, while still a child, everyone lost this connection and perhaps still does not know how to restore it. Inside every person there is a memory of that moment, which means there is a chance to remember it and cancel all the decisions that took away the wings, took away safety, took away the self.
Some still run from their own future and still hold grudges against their parents, ancestors, family line. Believing that it was “them” who deprived, took away, did not love, did not protect, could not show the way to happiness, and many more “did nots” that rob them of chances to grow. Yet such “rescue” only briefly numbs the deep pain inside. A pain that has not yet become a strength capable of leading to growth.
Childhood is a wonderful time, when our life is overflowing with new information and every second the newest experience amazes us!
Wonder, joy, delight, curiosity and boundless activity give an unforgettable taste for life and make our journey light and welcome.
- So what has happened since then?
- Why do you live differently today? Why are you driven by fear and anxiety?
- Where did you lose your lightness, curiosity, energy and boundless desire to live?
- How do you find motivation? Where do you get strength?
- What are your true desires?
- How do you cope with anxiety, resentment and anger during a crisis?
- How do you understand where to go next?
